Step1

What is the ATSA scheme and is my product eligible?

The ATSA scheme

The ATSA scheme allows applicants to submit applications for classification of films containing television series episodes and series-related material accompanied by an assessment of the content. The assessment needs to be completed by an Authorised Assessor who is currently authorised by the Classification Board to assess ATSA material.

The Authorised Assessor portion of an application under this scheme consists of a highly detailed report on the content of the film and a recommendation for the appropriate classification and consumer advice based on the report. The provision of the report and recommendation by a trained and accredited assessor greatly assists the Board in making their decision and thus the application type attracts a much lower fee.

Eligible classification material

The ATSA scheme applies to product consisting of episodes of television series and series-related material. At least one episode of the series must have been previously broadcast on Australian television. The application you submit does not need to include any previously broadcast episodes.

The application can include series-related material such as outtakes, deleted scenes or a Director's commentary. It cannot include content such as feature films or standalone interactive games.

The ATSA scheme does not apply to material where the product is likely to be classified X18+ or Refused Classification.
