What is an ACI?

ACI types

An ACI is an approved cultural institution. There are two types of ACI as defined in Section 6F of the Commonwealth Act:

  1. Organisations formed wholly or mainly for the purpose of carrying on activities of an educational, cultural or artistic nature (eg. this could include an art gallery or a museum).

  2. Government bodies. This category includes departments, agencies and authorities of the Commonwealth, a State or Territory, or bodies established under a State or Territory law and local government entities (eg. this could include a state government arts body or a local council).
