What to provide and arrange

Essential requirements

You will need to provide:

  • a copy of the computer game in an acceptable format
  • a correctly completed and signed Computer Games Application Form, or use the form on the Classification portal
  • an assessment report completed by an Authorised Assessor
  • the correct fee.

All of the above forms and materials are available on the right-hand side of this page.

You must send the correct documentation, materials and classification fee with any application for classification. If you do not supply all the required information your application will be delayed.

Recommended to provide

To help the classifiers quickly become familiar with your product and potentially speed up the classification process, we recommend for any computer game application that you provide a separate audiovisual recording of any contentious material and typical gameplay. The recording should be around 30–45 minutes, however if you feel that more footage is needed to properly demonstrate the game, please include a document with time-codes as a guide to the recording. Footage should not be longer than 100 minutes. Please make sure that the gameplay footage is sent to us on a separate device from the copy of the game.

Temporarily withhold a decision from the NCD

In limited circumstances we can withhold your decision from the National Classification Database for a short time. If you need to withhold a decision for legitimate commercial reasons, please contact a Client Liaison Officer to discuss your needs.
