Rules for advertising unclassified films and games

There are rules that apply to advertising unclassified films and games. These include:

  • Most advertising for films and games must have the ‘advertising message’, advising consumers to “Check the Classification”
  • When advertising an unclassified film or computer game with a classified film or computer game, an assessment of the likely classification of the unclassified film or computer game must be made either by the Classification Board or by an Authorised Advertising Assessor
  • Advertisements for unclassified films and games can only be advertised with a classified film or game when the assessment is the same as or lower than the classified film or game. The table below shows this:
