Step 2 - Check the Classification

Check the classification

If you are unsure if a publication is classified, or whether the correct marking is shown on the publication, you should search the National Classification Database (NCD) for the classification decision.

The NCD gives you information about the classification decision, consumer advice, and other information about the publication. This includes the issue number, number of pages, and publisher details (where available) so you can compare the results of the database search with the publication you have to sell.

If the publication is not listed, you should contact the distributor for classification information, or you can submit it to the Classification Board for classification.

If the publication is listed, you need to make sure the classification decision and consumer advice is shown correctly on the publication. Marking guidelines and downloads are available to help you on the who can buy submittable products page.
