Classification markings downloads - internet advertising
There are two different types of internet advertising that require markings, those that use pack shots and other.
For multiple title advertising, there are several options for markings depending on the size of the page or poster.
Classification markings for:
- Internet advertising using pack shots
- Internet advertising not using pack shots
- Moving image advertising on the internet

General requirements for display, format, legibility and placement of classification markings on internet advertising
General provisions are set out in Part 3 of the Classification (Markings for Films and Computer Games) Determination 2007. Relevant sections are indicated below.
Markings must be displayed
All internet advertising must display classification markings (See Section 9 of the Classification (Markings for Films and Computer Games) Determination 2007).
If it is not practicable to comply with a display requirement, the marking will be taken to comply with the requirement if the marking complies, as nearly as reasonably practicable, with the requirement. (See Section 11 of the Classification (Markings for Films and Computer Games) Determination 2007).
Combination boxes must be displayed in the format and proportions as shown in Part 6 of Schedule 1 of the Determination. (See Section 22 of the Classification (Markings for Films and Computer Games) Determination 2007).
Format and legibility
Classification markings on internet advertising must be clearly legible. Markings on moving images must be displayed for a period of time that is sufficient to allow the markings to be read in full. (See Section 20 of the Classification (Markings for Films and Computer Games) Determination 2007).
Classification markings must not be obscured by other material on the advertising. (See Section 21 of the Classification (Markings for Films and Computer Games) Determination 2007).
Markings must be displayed in high contrast to the background. (See Sections 13, 15 and 19 of the Classification (Markings for Films and Computer Games) Determination 2007).
Coloured markings must be coloured in accordance with CMYK or RGB values as listed in Part 3 of Schedule 1 of the Determination. (See Section 13 and 14 of the Classification (Markings for Films and Computer Games) Determination 2007).
The classification character or classification symbol may be displayed in monochrome in a monochrome environment. A classification character or classification symbol displayed on screen must be displayed with at least 70% opacity. (See Section 15 of the Classification (Markings for Films and Computer Games) Determination 2007).
The font for the classification symbol must be displayed in FF Din Bold. (See Section 17 of the Classification (Markings for Films and Computer Games) Determination 2007).
The font of consumer advice within the combination boxes and classification description within the classification description box must be printed in black Universe condensed regular type (See Section 18 of the Classification (Markings for Films and Computer Games) Determination 2007).
Placement
Markings on internet advertising must be placed in the lower left corner of the advertisement. If this is not possible, it should appear as close as practicable to the lower left corner. (See Section 10 of the Classification (Markings for Films and Computer Games) Determination 2007).
Specific provisions
Internet advertising using pack shots
The following options are available for an advertisement that includes a packshot:
Option 1
If the pack shot of the product used in the advertisement is large enough so that the marking on the pack shot is not less than 4 mm in height then the marking on the pack shot is sufficient. The classification description applicable to the films or computer game must appear next to the pack shot or in a key or legend.
Option 2
If the markings in the pack shots are obscured, then a marking needs to be superimposed on the lower left corner of the pack shot or under the pack shot. The classification description applicable to the films or computer game must appear next to the pack shot or in a key or legend.
- A 10 pt black upper case character/s on white background [ZIP 2.2MB] or a 10 pt white upper case character/s on black background [ZIP 2.19MB] in the lower left corner of the pack shot or immediately below the pack shot, or
- A colour classification symbol square [ZIP 2.27MB] or a colour classification symbol rectangle [ZIP 2.12MB] on the lower left corner of the pack shot, or, if a pack shot is not used in the advertisement, next to the title.
A key or legend , or a link to such a key or legend, must appear in all internet advertisements using pack shots. This legend must list all classifications descriptions in text at least 2 mm high and the classification markings used the advertisement.

Internet advertising not using pack shots
There are two options for markings on internet advertisements that do not use pack shots and are not moving image advertisements.
These markings must be placed in the lower left corner of the advertisement.
Option 1

Moving image advertising on the internet
An advertisement on the Internet for a film or computer game that takes the form of a moving image must display the markings in accordance with the requirements for moving image advertising in the Trailers on TV, DVD, computer games, demo discs, websites section.
If an advertisement contains both still and moving images, the markings must appear on the still element.

A key or legend , or a link to such a key or legend, must appear in all internet advertisements for a classified film or computer game. This legend must list the classifications descriptions in text at least 2 mm high and the classification markings used the advertisement.
