Colectiv is a documentary film that follows a group of investigative journalists at a Romanian newspaper in their work uncovering public healthcare fraud, corruption and maladministration.
The film centres on the uncovering of corruption in the Romanian health system and hospital mismanagement that contributed to the deaths of burns victims who were negligently treated following a nightclub fire. The film includes footage of the chaotic scenes as the fire spread and the nightclub filled with smoke. There are also scenes in which the wounds of burns victims are viewed, including one who has "worms" in the wound due to poor hospital treatment.
The film includes use of the words "c**t" and "f**k".
As a burns victim poses for a series of photographs, there are incidental and largely obscured views of breast nudity.
