Aranya is an Indian environmental action thriller. A herd of elephants in the jungle has their forest home threatened by the construction of a walled residential compound. Their protector, Aranya, attempts to defend them and comes into conflict with the authorities while a group of Maoist rebels wages its own campaign against the developers. The film is in Telugu with English subtitles.

Themes

The film contains themes of environmental destruction and depictions of animals being accidentally and intentionally harmed, as well as political and police corruption.

Violence

The film contains depictions of martial-arts style fights in which men kick, punch and throw each other, as well as depictions of men being shot which are accompanied by blood effects and injury detail. A scene features a depiction of a man being impaled on a branch which is accompanied by blood effects. The film also contains a discreet reference to sexual violence.
