As a result of the Administrative Arrangement Order introduced on 5 December 2019, the functions that were previously the responsibility of the Department of Communications and the Arts have been transferred to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications as of 1 February 2020.

Classification Branch

The Classification Branch is a branch of the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications which is co-located with the Classification Board in Sydney.

The Classification Branch provides operational and policy advice on classification issues to the Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts, provides secretariat services to the Classification Board and the Classification Review Board, promotes compliance and provides classification training for both boards, industry and government.
