A modified version of the previously classified feature, Babylon, a US historical drama set in 1920’s Hollywood which follows the careers of an ingenue, an established star and a Mexican immigrant who is desperate to gain a foothold in the movie industry. The original film is accompanied by a making-of documentary, “A Panoramic Canvas Called Babylon”, as well as brief featurettes on the film’s costumes and score, plus six deleted or extended scenes.

Themes

The film focuses on debauchery in 1920's Hollywood, with extended sequences depicting drug and sex-fuelled parties. There is a scene of suicide, an explicit snake bite and an extended sequence in a threatening, dungeon-like environment which features visual references to BDSM and a brief scene of animal cruelty.

Violence

The film contains brief sequences of strong violence using weapons which feature blood and injury. There are verbal threats that reference violence.

Sex

The film contains several depictions of sexual activity during party scenes, often involving nudity. These sequences also feature other depictions of sexualised imagery and there are verbal sexual references and innuendo, including during a cabaret-style performance.

Language

The film contains use of the word 'c**t', frequent use of the word 'f**k", as well as 'pussy', 'cock', 'dick', 'shit', 'ass', 'bitch', 'tits' and 'damn'.

Drug use

The film contains several scenes of cocaine use and frequent verbal references to drug use.

Nudity

The film contains brief male and female rear and frontal nudity which is sometimes sexualised.
