Billion Dollar Heist is a documentary that follows an attempt by cyber criminals to transfer close to US$1 billion from a Federal Reserve Bank of New York account belonging to the Central Bank of Bangladesh in February, 2016. The documentary features interviews with cyber security experts and journalists, news reports, archival footage
and live-action and animated reconstructions of the events leading up to the heist.

Themes

The film contains themes related to cyber-theft, cyber-attacks, criminal activity and money laundering. There are verbal references to future cyber-attacks which may pose a potentially catastrophic threat. Brief images of a child on a life-support machine are referenced in relation to cyber-attacks on hospital systems.

Violence

The film contains gun violence in which grainy CCTV footage depicts bank heists, with criminals shooting customers. No blood or injury detail is viewed. A man is blurred onscreen as he is kicked and punched on the floor.
