Set in Athens, Greece, Luca, an aspiring actor and his brother Alekos live in poor fibancial circumstances. Luca receives an offer for a scholarship at an prestigious acting school,in New York, provided he has the funds to support himself.. A;lekos and his girlfriend meanwhile dream of opening a wine bar.The brothers hatch a plot for a heist - robbing the owner of a sex cinema, but the attempt goes disastrously wrong and a bystander, Ilias, is shot with Luca's gun in the struggle.
Luca visits the hospital to visit both his comatose girlfriend and with a plan to silence Ilias who is also there. Instead he strikes up a friendship with Ilias who doesn npt recgnise him. Ilias has a turbuklent relationmship with his mother and uncle, a policeman who is suspicious of Luca. The friendship between the three men and Alekos girlfriend Sotiria takes some adventurous turns with experiments with hallucinogenic mushrooms and Luca's public acting performances, while Luca struggles with his conscience
