The Courier is a dramatic film from the UK/Czech Republic. Based on true events, it tells the story of a British businessman who is recruited by MI6 to form a partnership with a Soviet officer who wishes to provide crucial intelligence about the Soviet-backed Cuban Missile Crisis. The film is in English and Russian (with English subtitles).

Themes

The film contains themes of execution and espionage within the context of the Cuban Missile Crisis in the early 1960's. A Russian soldier is executed for spying for the Americans. A man is detained for the same offence in front of his family. An English man is jailed in Russia for several years suspected of espionage.

Violence

The film contains an execution of a man who is shot in the head. There is no blood or wound detail.

Sex

A man and his wife are depicted in a bedroom mirror kissing and embracing as they fall onto the bed. They are then viewed lying under the sheets, implicitly naked. The woman asks him, "Where did that come from?" and he replies, " I missed you."

Language

The film contains the use of the word "f**king" as well as "bullshit" and "asshole".

Nudity

The film contains a full-length shot of a man standing naked under a shower, with his buttocks viewed. He is also depicted in a front-on shot with his hands covering his genital region.
