Elio is a US animated science fiction film in which Elio, a space fanatic with an active imagination, finds himself on a cosmic misadventure where he must form new bonds with alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions and somehow discover who he is truly meant to be.

Themes

The film contains themes related to loss, loneliness and grief, as told from the perspective of a young boy who encounters fantastical and monstrous looking aliens in outer space. There is some crude humour and additional science fiction elements, including comedic examples of body morphing.

Violence

The film contains an alien invasion with blasting laser cannons in which characters are shoved and forcibly restrained. There are also verbal threats, shoving and a punch.
