Gekidol – The Complete Season is a Japanese anime series which consists of 12 episodes and an additional animated film called ‘Alice in Deadly School’. In the series, a schoolgirl named Seria is invited to join a troupe of actors called Alice In Theater which runs performances using new 3D hologram technology. The group begins to uncover events relating to a series of disasters that decimated cities across the globe five years previously. The additional film, ‘Alice In Deadly School’ features the cast performing one of their signature plays, in which a school has been overrun with zombie schoolgirls. The series and additional film are in Japanese, with dialogue subtitled in English.

Themes

Thematic material includes the destruction of cities, time travel and, in one episode, a plague of zombies. The film also contains discreet references to prostitution.

Violence

The film contains brief fight sequences and violence using weapons, including swords and guns, as well as attacks by zombies. Blood detail is sometimes evident, although brief and stylised.
