Kantara: A Legend is an Indian dramatic film, in which the villagers who live in and around the forest come into conflict with government officials and corrupt landlords. Their ancestral relationship with the land is tested by these confrontations. The film is in the Kannada language with English subtitles.

Themes

The film contains themes of corruption and animist spirit worship, in which a dancer becomes a vessel for a deity. In this film, the deity protects their worshippers from the machinations of government and landlords.

Violence

The film contains extended sequences of violence in which men are shot and stabbed. Some injuries are seen, including bullet wounds, and, for some characters, these injuries are fatal.
