The Emperor of Mankind had a singular ambition, to reunite the disparate fragments of mankind, lost to the stars after the great horrors of Old Night. Before this ambition could be realised, the Emperor needed to first turn his gaze to the warring civilizations of earth. Embarking on his unification wars, to first unite terran civilisations into one great imperium. From which he could venture unto the stars. While the Thunder Warriors, the Emperor’s first iteration on genetically engineered soldiers, would be utilised in the earliest engagements, they would in turn be replaced by a new breed of warrior. The Legiones Astartes, the Space Marines. Superior in discipline to spearhead the coming Great Crusade.
