Masking Threshold is an Austrian film with English dialogue, in which an unnamed man who suffers from tinnitus conducts a series of increasingly bizarre experiments in his home, in an effort to better understand his hearing impairment and what it reveals to him.

Themes

The film focuses on a disturbed individual who conducts a series of bizarre experiments, eventually progressing to the killing and dissecting of animals and humans. The film contains graphic examples of injury detail, including severed heads, limbs and other body parts, often in close-up.

Violence

The film contains sequences in which people are brutally killed, although the detail is mostly restricted to post-action shots of their injured or dismembered bodies.
