Mieruko-Chan - The Complete Season - comprises 12 episodes of a Japanese anime series. Miko, an ordinary high school student, sees ghosts, spirits and monsters that walk freely amongst humans. She pretends to herself that they don't exist, choosing to ignore them to protect her friends and others. The series is in English dialogue with Japanese and English subtitles.

Themes

The series contains supernatural themes in which highly-stylised, grey ghoulish monsters, spirits and ghosts are viewed with deformed heads, arms and mouths, surrounded by purple mist with accompanying growling sounds. The series also contains verbal references to animal abuse and family dysfunction.

Violence

The series contains violence between ghoulish monsters and shrine spirits, in which combat is undertaken using spells and magic. Monsters are often dismembered or decapitated during fight sequences, disappearing once defeated in a cloud of dust. Characters are also chased by various figures in a haunted house, wielding weapons including a chainsaw, scythe, daggers and an axe with accompanying blood detail.

Sex

The series contains several scenes in which characters are viewed bending over, exposing their upper thighs to the camera. Female characters are viewed undressing in a changeroom as well as having a shower and bath, in which the camera pans slowly over their partially obscured breasts and body. A character reads from a magazine titled, "How to Please Your Lover in 99 Ways". There is a discreet comedic verbal reference to sexual innuendo. Another character refers to her breasts as "boob meat".

Language

The series contains use of the words, 'shit', 'crap', 'butt', 'bum', 'ass', 'whore', 'bastard', 'damn' and 'hell'.

Nudity

The series features female and male buttock nudity. The series also contains full length female nudity in which a female's character's breasts are partially obscured by hair and genitalia obscured by her hand.
