The Runner is a dramatic thriller film that follows the story of troubled teenager, Aidan, who after being arrested for drug possession, is forced by the police to go undercover and risk his life to bring down a dangerous drug king pin.

Themes

The film contains themes relating to drug abuse, drug dealing, mental health and family conflict.

Violence

The film contains an extended sequence of violence that includes punching and gun fire. Some blood and wound detail is viewed at close range.

Sex

The film includes scenes of a high school aged couple in bed, implied to be post-coital. The couple appear naked, however any detail is hidden by bed coverings. In another scene, a male kisses two females who caress him on a bed. The females are in lingerie and the male is topless. One of the females begins to unzip the male's pants before the scene ends.

Language

The film includes use of the words "f**k" , "shit", "bitch", "ass", "hell" and "damn".

Drug use

The central plot of the film revolves around a teenage boy who abuses drugs and becomes involved with dealing them. There are multiple scenes of implicit and explicit cannabis and cocaine use, including smoking and snorting the drugs, as well as detailed depictions of drug preparation and drug-induced behaviour.

Nudity

The film includes a scene where a male is explicitly naked in a bath, however he is positioned in a manner where is genitals are obscured. Partial side buttocks are viewed.
