It’s Saturday night, October 11, 1975 at 10:00 pm in New York City, 90 minutes until showtime. A nervous 29-year-old producer, Lorne Michaels before he’s Lorne Michaels, anxiously awaits outside 30 Rockefeller Plaza on a bustling evening that might just make and break him at the same time. A dizzying chain of events spell certain doom for a network banking on NBC’s Saturday Night to fail. For Lorne, the show must go on. This is the story of the young eccentric cast and crew, and the behind-the-scenes chaos that ensued inside the famed Studio 8H, as the minutes ticked down leading up to the first utterance of the immortal words, “Live From New York, it’s Saturday Night!”
