STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R is the second instalment in the STAR OCEAN series, and action RPG, with 2D pixelated characters in 3D environments, in which Claude C. Kenny, a young officer in the Pangalactic Federation, is sent to investigate a mysterious dome discovered on Planet Milokeenia on the orders of Ronyx, his father and commanding officer.

Themes

The game contains themes related to the impact of war against an army of monsters and showcases and the loss of human lives. It also includes themes of death and sacrifice, Love and friendship, and includes scenes in bars and taverns discussing the impacts of alcohol and getting drunk.

Violence

The game contains violence shown in cutscenes and 3rd person battles, characters with hitting monsters and other humans-like characters with swords in 2D/3D Action RPG style combat. A few scenes contain a mild amount of blood and pixelated human and animal (dog) undetailed corpses.
