Three Goodbyes

Tells the story of Marta and Antonio, a couple in Rome whose long-term relationship ends abruptly after a trivial argument. Marta is a high school physical education teacher, and Antonio is a rising chef. After they split, Marta withdraws into herself, while Antonio throws himself into opening his own restaurant. Despite ending things, Antonio cannot get over Marta and is haunted by memories of her across Rome. Meanwhile, Marta experiences a sudden, persistent loss of appetite. Urged on by her well-meaning sister Elisa, Marta visits a doctor and receives a serious, life-altering medical diagnosis. The health crisis shifts Marta's perspective completely. Facing a profound turning point, she begins to reevaluate her life, finding new meaning in food, music, desire, and the time she has left.
